Venezuela emergency numbers
Venezuela’s emergency number is 911 (the VEN 911 system): it is nationwide, free and connects police, ambulance, fire and Civil Protection. If the call does not connect, try your carrier’s emergency code: *1 from Movilnet, 112 from Digitel or 171 from a CANTV landline. For disasters, Civil Protection answers on 0800-7248451.

When in doubt, dial 911: the operator connects you to the right agency.
After the June 2026 earthquakes, many lists with temporary lines circulated. We only publish numbers confirmed by official sources or by several matching sources.
What is VEN 911, and is it free?
VEN 911 is the national system that brings together security, risk and health agencies. Civil Protection calls it the single emergency line and states that it is a free service. In August 2026, during the rainy season, state broadcaster RNV reported the line was active 24 hours a day. The UK and Australian governments also tell travelers to call 911.
We found no official confirmation that 911 works from every carrier or without phone credit. That is why it is worth saving your carrier’s emergency code too.
Who do you call after a motorcycle crash on a highway?
Call 911, highways included: we found no separate national line for expressways. Give the highway name, the direction of travel and a landmark (an interchange, a toll booth, a gas station). If you witness a motorcycle crash, leave the rider’s helmet on and follow our motorcycle accident first aid guide.

What should you say when you call 911?
- Where you are: city, avenue or highway, and a landmark.
- What happened: collision, motorcycle crash, fire, injured person.
- How many are injured, and whether they are conscious and breathing.
- Any danger: fire, fuel on the road, traffic that will not stop.
- Your name and number, in case the call drops.
Do not hang up until the operator tells you to. If you do not speak Spanish, say “emergencia”, the place and “accidente de moto”, and stay on the line.
How can you keep these numbers at hand?
- Save them on your phone with clear names: “Emergency 911”, “Civil Protection”.
- Turn on your phone’s medical ID with your allergies and an emergency contact. See ICE emergency contacts on your phone.
- If you ride, put an emergency QR code on your helmet. The MásVidas profile shows the emergency number for your country and lets whoever helps alert your family with one tap. The code also stores an offline version of your vital details for places with no signal. See what is an emergency QR code.
Frequently asked questions
What is the emergency number in Venezuela?
It is 911, run by the VEN 911 system. It is a free, nationwide line that connects police, ambulance, fire and Civil Protection, and it is the number given by Venezuela’s Civil Protection and by the UK and Australian governments. If it does not connect from your phone, try your carrier’s code: *1 from Movilnet, 112 from Digitel or 171 from a CANTV landline.
Does 911 work in Venezuela for tourists?
Yes, 911 is the number to call, from a local SIM or a landline. We could not confirm that it works from every foreign SIM while roaming, so save the carrier codes too and, if you can, buy a local SIM. Operators speak Spanish; give the place, what happened and how many people are hurt, and stay on the line.
What is the number for the Caracas fire department?
(0212) 545-4545, a number that several Venezuelan and international outlets agree on in 2023 and 2026. You can also dial 911, which dispatches the fire service. Call them for fires, gas leaks, rescues or crashes where someone needs to be freed from a vehicle. If people are injured, say so first so they also send an ambulance.
