MásVidas

Who is behind MásVidas

MásVidas was created by Pablo Porras, known on the road as ChamoenMoto: a motorcycle adventurer who travels to discover amazing places and people, and who also writes code. He built it after seeing, on a trip, what happens when an injured rider cannot say who they are.

Why was MásVidas created?

On one of his trips, Pablo witnessed another rider’s crash; the rider was seriously injured. In that moment nobody knew whom to call or notify.

When the paramedics arrived, they did not have the basics either: his blood type, whether he was allergic to any medication, or whether he had health insurance. That information could change his care in those first minutes, and there was no way to get it.

Pablo used his programming skills to build a system that solves exactly that: anyone who finds an injured rider can see their vital data and alert their family just by scanning a code.

What is the mission?

To save riders’ lives anywhere in the world. We started in South America, with Colombia and Venezuela, and in parallel we are bringing MásVidas to English-speaking countries.

How do we design the product?

  • It has to work at the worst moment: no app, any phone camera, and a version that needs no internet.
  • You decide what is shown: every field is public or private by your choice, and your family’s phone numbers are never displayed.
  • It has to be affordable: US$4.99 a year, so price is never the reason not to carry it.
